Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price is down a touch (-0.4¢) since last week at $2.851 - this time last year it was up to $2.627 so it's only 8.5% (+22.4¢) dearer.
Diesel is up 0.7¢ at $3.186. It's 17.2% (+46.7¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at an 11.8% premium to regular.
E85 is down to $2.410 - a year ago it was $2.161 so 11.5% dearer.

This morning, much better, traffic was kinder to me apart from had to detour the traffic light section, 2UP, mild 64°F, breezy cross/headwind SSW22 gusting to 36, drizzling:
    50.9 / 22.9

    Tank down 1.2 at 47.4 (FCD 50.0) / 138.4 / Range 540 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG down 0.1 at 47.5 / DTE 504

That's quite a headwind. Nice numbers despite that and the wet roads.

We've had minimal wind for a surprisingly long time. I've got grass clippings still on my driveway from two weeks ago.

    54.1 / 5.2 - home last night, hot 93F
    53.4 / 11.6 - school and work this morning

    Tank 54.0 / 199 mi.

I'm working from home today. Flash flood warnings for the remnants of Hurricane Florence passing through and out to sea with mild winds (<10 knots) but plenty of rain.

    Today 64 deg F , wind N2. 35.0 miles , 66.03 MPG.
Tank is now at 484.6 miles , 70.21 MPG. If I get a 70 tank with this
mostly highway commute , I'm happy. The only way I usually do that
is by going home on surface streets , and with construction on I-355 , I'm
happy to do that. And get 75-ish on the trip home.

Thanks Bill, today is pretty windy too! I’ve had to drive through a flood once, not nice!

Last night, 2UP, 70°F, crosswind S18, detour #2 again, not great again:

    Tank down 0.3 at 47.1 (FCD 49.5) / 181.5 / Range 490 . Guess gauge F_«««|««««E . UG down 0.5 at 47.0 / DTE 453

While out of the office yesterday, my office building took more hits from the heavy rains. 3rd time in as many weeks, and I didn't trust the repair job done with the first occurrence. A couple of 2'x2' ceiling tiles were caved in by the water. Luckily, no computer hardware damage. I had left it covered in plastic and there was a trash bin where the last leak was. I don't know when proper repairs will be done, and I'm not setting up the computer again till then. More working from home... :D

I did a bit of my second job today, as a real estate agent. I went to the north shore of Boston to do some things for a new listing. 115 miles round trip. About 2/3 highway and the rest just heavy traffic and a few back roads. Elevation from 650' to sea level and back. Temperatures in the lower 60s. Winds - don't know. Lots of drizzle.

5.1 miles/kWh per the driving computer (about 170 MPGe). Did some free fast charging along the way, mostly at my favorite ChargePoint (power company sponsored) location, then tried a short session at an EVgo location. The latter normally charges $0.35/minute(!!) in my area, but this one was free because it is on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Oh, and I received a promotional credit yesterday from a Chevrolet/EVgo program so now I have $175 credit to spend over the next 6 months. :) This is the only way I'd spend $0.35/min on their 50 kW charger.

Today's drive lowered my average because I don't normally go on the highway.

Your car clearly likes it hot, though you may suffer a bit...

Back to Boston tonight. The wife/broker decided to change out the lock box with low tech. Apparently, the area real estate agents don't use electronic lock boxes. :(

Last night was horrible, after the high winds earlier there were trees down, power out in places, cars everywhere so had to take many detours to escape the city, 2UP, 62°F, cross/tailwind SW18 with big gusts, average speed 19mph:
    40.1 / 21.0

This morning, detoured traffic light section, raining, 2UP, 52°F, cross/headwind SSW11:
    50.8 / 23.0

    Tank down 0.5 at 46.6 (FCD 49.0) / 225.5 / Range 435 . Guess gauge F_«««|««««E . UG down 0.7 at 46.3 / DTE 401

Tank mpg is dopping fast due to massive differential (>25%) between going to work and coming home

There's a weather warning for very strong winds this evening and lots of rain...

By the way, I just checked and Wayne hasn't been here since August 20.

I suggest we consider moving to monthly threads here instead of Gord (THANK YOU) starting a new one every single week.

If Wayne's not around, I wonder how long the site will even be up?
