Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price has dropped back 2.1¢ since last week to $2.838 - this time last year it was only $2.335 so it's 21.5% (+50.3¢) dearer.
Diesel is down 0.8¢ at $3.143. It's 24.3% (+61.5¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at an increasing 10.7% premium to regular.
    E85 is also down to $2.413 - a year ago it was below $2 @ $1.993 so 21.1% dearer.

At just shy of 70K miles , I have 60% life left on my front brakes , 100% on the rear brakes.
That's what the Toyota of Naperville says.

80k and about 50% on my brakes as of a few months ago. Only half those miles are mine though, so it could be better still.

Back at the office. 63 / 5.2 mi.

Tank is just past 1/2 now, 53.1 mpg / 405 mi.

Last night, 2UP, 76°F, crosswind S6, roadworks were complete so back to detour #8, quite a few stop/starts before getting on motorway:

    45.7 / 23.2

Running a bit late so put in 6 litres (1.585 US gallons) from a gas can I had in the garage to keep me going as I have a money off coupon I need to use. Range back up to 80.

This morning, 2UP, 62°F, crosswind S4. Hadn't gone far when car sharer realised he's left his phone (cell) at home so dropped him off at other end of his dead-end road so he could walk back through an alleyway to get it! While I was waiting, did a quick 3-point turn:

    52.2 / 23.4

    Tank up 0.1 at 47.9 (FCD 50.5) / 644.7 / Range 55 . Guess gauge F____|___«E . UG up 0.2 at 46.4 / DTE 55

Second low fuel light @ 632 miles :p

    Still need to fill up....

I am driving electric cars. We are averaging about 180MPGe. With our 10.1kW solar array, we are producing about 3/4's of the electricity we use, so that translates to about 1.1¢ / mile.

    Today , 59 deg F , wind NE 2-4. 15.4 miles , 78.77 MPG.

Tank is at 543.8 miles , three pips remaining , 74.4 MPG.

Preparing myself for the steady decline in MPG as temps drop.

Also , I'll be back to my old commute from my house in Aurora soon ,
which is 2/3 Interstate highway. More miles , more time , more fuel consumed. Ugh.

    Ugh indeed Edwin :(

Last night - third commute home of the week - third different way:rolleyes:! 2UP, 74°F, tailwind W10, detour #2. Dropped car sharer off at other end of his dead-end street and went to fill up and use my 50¢/gall voucher:

    43.9 / 19.5 - I've used this tank's over-report of 8.22% for this trip.

    Tank Stats

    Miles on tank: 664.2 miles
GallsUS: 14.27 incl. 1.585 from gas can @ £1.189/litre (after voucher)
    Calc. MPG : 46.6 MPG
Calc. Range: 41.8 miles (allowing for extra in tank)
    FCD Range: 30
    FCD MPG : 50.4 MPG (8.22% over-report) :(
    UG MPG : 46.36 MPG (0.42% under-report)
    No. of trips: 37
    Average trip length: 18.0
    Average speed 30mph
Driving time on tank: 22hrs 14mins
    Days since last fill: 34
    Commuting: 46.5%
Ave. Temperature: 70°F - Hottest ever again!
Ave. no. of people in car: 2.39
    Pmpg for the tank: 143.3

Disappointed with the larger than normal over-report. I may have squeezed some extra in to make the most of the money off voucher :p !

    Gas station to home:
    41.7 / 1.9

Quick change and then out for birthday meal with OH, 73°F, tailwind W10:

    58.6 / 10.7
    46.9 / 10.3 - coming back, 70°F, headwind W11

Managed to just beat my age in mpg’s (52) for the round trip ;)

    New tank at 50.8 (FCD 53.5) / 45.5 / Range 600 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG at 47.5 / DTE 597

I'm tired of tracking my MPG in the truck, but when you 503mi in a day at 9.7mpg, you feel pretty good. Was a load for Amazon, which are normally pretty light, but this one was abnormally so at 2700lbs.

Chicagoland doesn't seem terribly friendly even on non-freeway roads. Traffic and signals, and the like. As flat as it is, I can't imagine commuting and good MPG numbers co-existing. Good work!

Sunday , I drove about 44 miles on roads with speed limits of
mostly 45-55 MPH. The hot weather ( and no A/C useage ) allowed me to get about
70 MPG for the day. Also rode the Trek about 16 miles in the hottest part of the day.
It may seem flat, James , but when you know your commute intimately , you know
exactly where all those "hills" are , and learn to use them. The reason I get some halfway-decent #'s ?
I care VERY little about the people behind me , lol. All of my commute except the last mile is on 4-lane roads ,
people are free to pass me anytime they like. That's AM only. In the afternoon , I can't glide quite as much and
MPG may be 5-8 (fcd) less. Thanks for the recognition.

Last pip started blinking Sunday on the way home from my date. 700.7 miles. I will probably fill up Tuesday AM.
