Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price is whatever it is :p

    I’m still on vacation

Took Jazz/Fit for annual service ( and MOT Test ) yesterday.
    55.2 / 10.1 going
Service knocked it down to 35.3 / 10.2 miles
    50.3 / 10.1 coming back (A/C on 84F)

Thanks for starting the thread (again ) , Gord. Yesterday we had some rain on the way home.
BAD traffic , some roads flooded , some roads closed. A nightmare. I had to take a few detours
just to find roads that were safe. 17.5 miles , 62.12 MPG.
    This morning , much better. 69 deg F , wind SE 0-2 , 15.5 miles , 80.63 MPG.
Tank is holding at two pips remaining , 664.0 miles , 76.07 MPG. Not so bad.

Today , 68 deg F , wind NE 1-5. This would be a headwind for me , but it must have been
    more like 1 MPH , because my results were pretty good. 15.4 miles, fcd = 88.8 x .93 = 82.58 MPG
Tank is still at two pips , 695.0 miles , 76.26 MPG. This will be very close to a tie for best MPG tank
with a tank I had in June. That tank was 739.9 miles , and I can beat that with just a tiny bit of courage.
I may hold out until Sat morning and approx. 750 miles.

I drove to work this morning. My brakes were a little rusty, battery a little low, but it ran just fine.

It's a manual. (USA so shifter is on the right) My left hand is the injured one. What I did was drive with the right hand until shifting time. Grab the wheel with the left and hold it steady while I shift, then swap back to right-hand driving. No shifting except on nice straight stretches.

I'm down to just a little swelling in the wrist right near the injury site. I can do light work with that hand, like lift a water bottle. It's great progress.

    Not too bad result:
    66.8 mpg / 5.2 mi.

    Tank is 52.0 / 242 mi, 3/4 full.

Sounds like you're getting better, Andrew.
Rain last night, but it was dry by morning. Or at least as dry as it ever gets around
    here in August. Today , 71 deg F , wind SSW 2-3. 15.4 miles , 80.54 MPG.
Fuel gauge is at one pip (steady) , 726.0 miles , 76.35 MPG. I think I will fill on the
way to work Saturday at around 751 miles.

Yes! I'd say overall 90% recovered, but maybe 50% in that left wrist.

    52.6 / 5.4 - going home, 96F in the shade
    71.4 / 5.3 - work this morning, 80F (!!!)

Tank is up to 52.3 / 253 mi.

71.4 MPG for a short trip in a non-hybrid car = not too shabby.
Where can I get a can of that snake-bite ?

Today , 66 deg F , wind ESE 1. I decided against filling up this morning.
I will do it on the way home from work at noon.
15.4 miles , 82.68 MPG. Tank is at 756.9 miles , 76.54 MPG. It will be around 761
miles when I fill at the Shell on Irving Park Rd and Wood Dale Rd.

Filled up with Shell's finest 87 E10 corn squeezin's after work Sat. The last fill was 20 days before then ,
but that was at an unfamiliar station and not level ground. I usually just apply the 0.93 multiplier to my
fcd results. This time , 761.7 miles (PR) , 9.685 gallons to first click. If I just divide miles by gallons ,
the result would be fantastic ! But my 40 months of driving this car has taught me that using the 0.93 multiplier
is pretty accurate. That is assuming , of course, that Toyota's fcd is consistent.
    Fcd = 82.2 x .93 = 76.45 MPG (PR). Driving the 10.8 miles home from Shell ( on a warm engine , with full glide capability )
gave me 99.9 MPG ( fcd ) which is a good feeling.

That's probably a safe assumption. Mine is remarkably consistent (at ~0.956) overall, or over any several consecutive tanks (enough to dilute minor fill inconsistencies).

My driving Sunday was on roads with higher speed limits ( 45-55 ) , but I do what I can with them.
63.6 miles , 76.26 MPG. Three long stops.

    Haha. Thanks.

But seriously, you do NOT want that. It is by far the worst pain I've ever experienced. I'm recovering well now, down to part-time over-the-counter painkillers.
