Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price has gone up a touch (+0.9¢) since last week to $2.856 - this time last year it was only $2.234 so it's 27.8% (+62.2¢) dearer.
Diesel is almost unchanged (-0.1¢) at $3.165. It's 29.7% (+72.4¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at a 10.8% premium to regular.
E85 is up +1.6¢ to $2.407 - a year ago it was still below $2 at $1.954 so 23.2% dearer.

    Today , 64 deg F , wind W 1-2. 15.4 miles , 78.03 MPG.

Filled up this morning at usual Shell , had to use pump on uneven ( not flat )
ground. I will use the .93 multiplier, anyway. 628.4 miles , 10.09 gallons.
The pump shut off early and often , five or six times. fcd = 65.0 * .93 = 60.45 MPG.
New tank is at 4.7 miles , 78.21 MPG. I have to stop after work and get BAIID device reset.
This dude usually leaves car in ready mode while he's working on it. There should be one more reset
around Aug 4 , then hopefully about two weeks later , I can have it un-installed. Then a stop at
Best Buy to buy a new phone charger. I think I left the old one in Nashville.

Die2self Saving more by using less!

Well, since I have not used the car since April 7th, and had not put the battery minder on it, I though I would use it to go to evening services on 7/1 as the kids were at my parents house and it would have been just my wife and I. I was willing to use the AC as I don't use the car much anymore and it all needed some lube. I opened a door (o_O, no light) hummm..... I threw the battery minder on it and it acted like it was charging. I left it for about 30 minutes and came back and the indicator light on the charger was RED!!! :(:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. Tried again, same thing. Yeah ruined that new battery, I just got it 11/2016. Honda battery too! Warranty for 100 months. But we don't have a Honda dealer near us anymore (they are all at least 1 hour away).

So look up the shops in town. They are both $159 for the toy battery. My wife was leaving the next day to pickup the kids and didn't want me to be without a car if I needed it. So we stopped by the O'Reilly's on the way home with the old battery in the trunk and swapped it. There was a good gentleman in there that we talk with for a while, as they had to find the battery. He added it his business discount so we got it for $130 instead. What a great guy! Thanks DUDE!:p

Got it home and placed it in the housing and hooked up the charger to it. I will keep the charger/minder on it from now on. Reset, the radio, clock and you guessed it all the emissions flags. But I guess there are no inspections in Arkansas like there were in Missouri, so I guess it doesn't really matter here, just the blinking check engine light. I will prob set them when I get the chance. Also, may take the car out once a week for a drive. I need to get an electric car or something that doesn't mind sitting for a while. We are keeping the car as our oldest will be 15 at this end of this year and it is paid off, so might be good for him to cut his teeth on that until he comes up with enough money to buy what he wants.

Out to the recycler over lunch today:
44.6 / 10.9 miles - 94F (Heat index of 105) and an E wind @9. welcome to Arkansauna. The thermometers at our house are showing 103F

    Tank sits at:
    43.9 MPG
    0.98 gals converted
    43.2 miles

Nice to hear from you again Jason but sorry about your battery woes!!

After car pooler dropped me home on Friday took my car to a local garage for it's first MOT test (a check of roadworthiness) and a brake fluid change, 76°F:
    57.1 / 3.1

Walked to a nearby pub to meet wife for lunch. Drove home in her Jazz/Fit.

Later on, went on mountain bike the long way to the dentist then back to garage to pick up car - it passed the MOT:
9.3 / 2.1 - Had to be done but less damage to tank compared to when Audi did first service last year (0.214 compared to 0.913 gallons consumed)

Put bike in back of car and drove home, very busy:
    48.3 / 2.9

    Tank down 1.6 at 49.2 (FCD 51.8) / 308.7 / Range 365 . Guess gauge F___«|««««E . UG down 1.0 at 48.3 / DTE 343

    Lost 3rd pip @ 306 miles

Saturday afternoon took youngest horse riding in the Jazz. Her lesson was at 3:00 so because England were playing soccer in the World Cup the roads were pretty empty (I don't watch football/soccer), made for a great result:
    71.4 / 8.9 Going, hot 81°F
    74.2 / 8.9 return

Sunday did a 65.5 mile bike ride @ 17.8mph ave

That battery is a weak point on the Fit, for sure! I'm on my third in 5 years.

Super busy weekend. 12 trips around town. Not going to report it all but 50's mpg overall.

Filled up in the middle of that.
652 miles (longest distance for 2.5 years!)
    11.455 gal
56.9 mpg (also best for 2.5 years)

For the first two years with this car I had an average mpg over 60. Then I moved and lost my magic route. This is the first time since then that my tank has been above the lifetime average.

    652 miles is outstanding , Andrew !

I know about that "magic route" thing. I am currently driving my "magic route" , but
I am thinking about moving back into my house in Aurora , which is a mostly
highway route. Not much magic possible on the highway.

Yeah. I lost 10 mpg, but I'm closer so still using 2/3 the fuel. No real complaints.
