Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price has dropped back 2.8¢ since last week to $2.921 - this time last year it was only $2.339 so it's 24.9% (+58.2¢) dearer.
Diesel is down 1.2¢ at $3.199. It's 28.2% (+70.3¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at a 9.5% premium to regular.
E85 is also down to $2.447 - a year ago it was $2.025 so 20.8% dearer.

    Today , 65 deg F , wind W 1-3. I can't complain about rain today , except....
okay , this might be my imagination but I think the roads are still "soggy" and "soft" after raining all weekend. 15.4 miles , 77.84 MPG. Tank is at three pips ,618.2 miles , and 75.61 MPG. I'm going to a concert Saturday that will require highway driving , but I think I will fill up before then. I'll have to do this if I want to hit the same station , same pump as last time.
It's been so long since my last fill that it's hard to remember exactly which station I went to. :)

Had an ok commute. Traffic was a bit ugly. And one was a coworker, who passed me and then I followed the final 2 miles to work.
    51.6 / 5.3 - home
    58.6 / 5.2 - work

Tank is steady at 54.4 / 351 mi, close to 1/2.

Quite busy Monday night but made it to motorway (down and up the junction trick required!), 2UP, warmer 74°F, 4mph head/crosswind ENE:
    46.1 / 22.4

Busier Tuesday morning too, detoured the traffic light section which resembled a car park!, 2UP, 56°F, 7mph cross/tailwind NE:
    48.4 / 23.0

    Tank down 0.4 at 50.0 (FCD 52.1) / 384.9 / Range 305 . Guess gauge F___«|««««E . UG steady at 47.9 / DTE 262

As usual the commute is starting to drag the tank down.....

Today was pretty nice. 70 deg F , wind ESE 3-13.
    15.4 miles , fcd = 89.8 * .93 = 83.51 MPG.
Tank dropped to two pips , 650.4 miles , 75.79 MPG.
My plan is to fill up Saturday morning , which should bring
me to about 745 miles. Easily a PR tank for distance and
especially MPG. But my current no-highway commute makes it
    an apples/oranges thing.

Overnight low 78F. High was an unusually low 92F. We often have 100's this time of year.

    52.9 / 5.3 - home
    57.7 / 5.2 - work

Tank is steady at 54.4 / 362 mi.

Now I recall where I last filled up. It was in Cook County where I had to go to court on May 24.
Don't wanna go THERE again. So , I will certainly fill up at my new favorite Shell , which is in Wood Dale IL ,
at Irving Park and Wood Dale Rd.
Wayne , do you have any idea why our Shell stations here in Illinois , at least those in the Chicago area ,
do NOT say Shell anywhere on them ? They do say Circle-K , I think. But they also have the unmistakable Shell logo
    on their signs.

Fourth commute home of the week, fourth different way :p - started off same way as Tuesday on detour #8, very slow section on motorway, then on second half hit a mile long queue  so doubled back to roundabout and bypassed it! 2UP, 71°F, 7mph tailwind W:

Today , 63 deg F , according to my Weather Underground , and wind is from the West , 0-1 MPH.

Lost my 9th pip at around 708 miles , but I'm good for at least one more full round trip to work and back. 15.4 miles , 80.44 MPG. Tank is at one pip , 713.7 miles , 76.07.
I need to make some stops after work today , so the trip home won't be that great. Still planning to fill Sat AM. My Shell is now at $2.999 for E10 87. Incredibly cheap. Should I buy an F-150 ?

    50.1 / 4.5 - home by a slightly different route
    60.0 / 5.4 - out to a meeting at church
    61.4 / 4.4 - run an errand
    59.1 / 5.1 - home

    71.8 / 5.2 - work this morning

Tank is up nicely, to 54.8 / 401 miles and right on 1/2 full.
That's the highest mileage at 1/2 tank I've seen since last summer.
