Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price has climbed 4.8¢ since last week to $2.811 - this time last year it was only $2.384 so it's 17.9% (+42.7¢) dearer.

Diesel is up 2.9¢ at $3.065. It's 21.2% (+53.7¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at a reducing 9% premium to regular.

E85 is also up to $2.344 - a year ago it was $2.078 so 12.8% dearer.

Drove the family to church to pick up my car I left there yesterday. Wife took the van home, I took kids to school and then work. 66F and humid

    53.5 mpg / 6.5 mi

After driving my friend's Dodge diesel truck, the Fit is AMAZING! So light and nimble and responsive and easy and fast (it's relative :p).

Tank is at 49.2 and 3/4 full after bee class this weekend.

go to a funeral today. Hope I can ride with someone else ! Then class tonight
so the trip home won't be as efficient. It's pretty much impossible to
beat my morning commute in the afternoon.

    Last night, 2UP, lots of queueing stop/start, 48°F, 7mph tailwind W:
    42.7 / 21.3

Got home and was informed I needed to go back to the city with Daughter who's at Uni's keys and some gas! Quick bite to eat and then back on the road with 2 cans which I filled at a BP on the way, 7mph headwind W:
    41.0 / 5.3

Got near to her Uni accommodation but a road had been closed for resurfacing and no matter how I tried (more road closures, one way systems, etc.) I couldn't get to her road so I eventually managed to park relatively near and walked there cans in hand! Frustrating
    42.4 / 18.6

Going home much quieter, great run, 7mph tailwind W:
    51.2 / 21.4

Last night's efforts were a devil [IMG] ;)- 66.6 miles!

    This morning, 2UP, cold start 40 to 45°F, 6mph headwind W:
    46.1 / 23.0

    Tank down 0.9 at 46.3 (FCD 48.8) / 234.5 / Range 410 . Guess gauge F__««|««««E . UG up 0.5 at 47.6 / DTE 408

Today , another perfect storm of warm weather(69) and wind(SW8-16).
I hit over 90 fcd on the 15.4 mile trip for the first time.
    90.7 * .93 = 84.35 MPG. Tank is at 607.8 miles , 67.98 MPG*.
Going home yesterday wasn't so great. Wind , stopped to go to school ,
round-trip to Midway after that. I had to do a lot of highway at 65MPH , which
I HATE to do , but I was short on time. About 48 miles , about 65 MPG.
One pip remaining , not flashing yet. Maybe , just maybe I can squeeze
another day out of this tank. Or two.

    Excellent Edwin and Andrew :D

Hi Jason, she was in a bit of rush to get back to beat the traffic as she doesn't normally drive there she takes the train and she left her keys behind! On the way there her LFL came on with maybe 35 miles left and then the range disappeared so she wasn't sure if she could get back or where gas stations are.....

Last night, 2UP, new detour - I'll call this one #8 - they've replaced some speed bumps with new vicious ones on detour #7 (only OK in 2nd gear!) so avoided it with a new slightly longer route to the motorway, 50°F, 17mph crosswind S gusting to 30 - felt it blowing the car about:
    42.1 / 23.1

    This morning, 2UP, heavy rain 46°F, 14mph crosswind S gusting to 29:
    47.2 / 22.5

    Tank down 0.3 at 46.0 (FCD 48.5) / 280.1 / Range 360 . Guess gauge F__««|««««E . UG down 0.3 at 47.3 / DTE 359

Nice find Andrew. It even came with 2 operators ;):p

Yeah, nice Gord! Got to teach her how much is actually in that tank and how low it can go . But you got to spend some time with her, which I'm sure was worth the extra efforts.

    Nice numbers Edwin.

Yes it was Bill, seemed the only solution!!

Last night, 2UP, detour #7 - wasn't as busy so tested out the vicious speed bumps to see how bad they are - 10mph!, 53°F, 12mph tailwind W:
    44.2 / 23.1

This morning on my own as leaving an hour early, 45°F, 9mph head/crosswind SSW:
51.7 / 22.5 - always do better on my own - more hypermiling techniques deployed, best commute since Sept. :D
