Welcome back to the grind The national average gas price has continued climbing, up another 4.9¢ since last week to $2.763 - this time last year it was $2.417 so it's now 14.3% (+34.6¢) dearer. Diesel is also climbing, up a smaller 2.7¢ to $3.036. It's now 19.7% (+50¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at a 9.9% premium to regular. E85's average price is up from $2.259 to $2.297 - a year ago it was $2.091 so it's now 9.9% dearer. _____________________ No commute for me this week - car pooling
Thanks , Gord. Today , 44 deg F , wind N4. 15.4 miles , 70.87 MPG. Tank is at 205.2 miles , 68.17. Now, I need to confess..... the 68.17 comes from multiplying my fcd for tank by 0.93. This has proved to be pretty accurate for MY CAR. But I accidentally reset my Trip A ( tank) Saturday morning when I got to work. The 1st part of the tank is now not included in the Trip fuel economy. I am keeping track of miles , and adding 136.9 to each tank reading. I hate when that happens ! Still , weather is getting nicer and I'm looking forward to a good result on this tank.
I agree. They make it too easy to do accidentally. I just did the same thing (except that I use "B") last Thursday, which fouled up my running cumulative calculation of the display mpg exaggeration. If I knew what it said when reset, I could do the math and correct, but I don't. I'll have to guess. I should know by now not to mess with that button when driving or otherwise distracted.
54.9 / 11.5 - school and work this morning. After the weekend's trailer towing (needed gutters and long lumber), the tank is now up to 47.9 / 35 mi.

Left work at 2:00 yesterday to go to the Cook County courthouse in Bridegview. Definitely out of the way , but I am required to meet with my Social Services caseworker once a month. Sort of like a parole for DUI offenders. Total after leaving work : 48.2 miles , 68.73 MPG. This morning , 44 deg F , wind N9 (gusting to 14 ). 15.4 miles , 67.8 MPG. Saturday to beekeeping class. 70F out, 80 coming back. We keep running late so I have to rush on the way there, and it shows in the mpg. 43.1 mpg / 36.6 mi 50.2 mpg / 33.4 Came back with 2 hives full of bees! Securely ratchet-strapped onto my trailer hitch cargo tray. No bees in the car! Then 51.9 / 5.4 to church Sunday morning. Left my car there and borrowed a friend's truck and trailer. 300,000 mile Cummins Doddge, 4wd, lifted. Could not be more different from my Fit. Drove an hour to look at a tractor. We have a deal, but the seller wants cash. I'll go back Friday to get it.
Sunday , I took a 23.5 mile bike ride on the Trek. I don't think my average speed poses any threat to Gord. But I pushed fairly hard and still felt pretty good afterwards.
