Welcome back to the grind :D

The national average gas price is up a “chunky” 6.1¢ since last week to $2.611 - this time last year it was $2.284 so it's 14.3% (+32.7¢) dearer.
Diesel is up a much smaller 1.3¢ to $2.941. It's now 17.4% (+43.5¢) more expensive than this time last year. Diesel is at a reducing 12.6% premium to regular.
E85's average price is up to $2.20 - a year ago it was $2.019 so 9% dearer.

    Today , 30 deg F , wind E7. 15.4 miles , 59.52 MPG. Saturday , I was able to average over 63 MPG for about 31 miles ,
to work at 5:15 AM and back to Linda's around 12:45. When temps rise above 40 F , things sure get better.

55 mpg / 11.4 mi to school and work. Everything is yellow with pollen; my allergies are terrible.

Tank is up a tick to 52.0 / 498 mi.

I filled up on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Costco in Warrenton, Oregon. Regular gas ($2.999 / gal). Most major gas stations in the area are $3.199 per gallon of regular gas. This is a big price jump since a few months ago. I am looking at gas approaching the $4.00 / gallon range at this increase level by the middle of summer or even sooner.

This morning, back to lights on (went to BST at the weekend), 2UP, 11mph crosswind S, heavy rain, 40°F:

Today , 49 deg F wind SW10. Roads are a bit wet from overnight rain. As usual , a giant lake in our parking lot at work ( clogged drain ).
I have to park in my assigned spot , and I like having that spot , but I have to pull in as far as possible to avoid stepping in
ankle-deep water. 15.4 miles , 69.19 MPG. I can see that 75 MPG is very do-able with this route (AM).

I'm just trying to get a few more mpg than Andrew , with his (non-hybrid) Fit.
Now that my highway miles are minimal , I can do better than before.
Now , getting 75 MPG for a round-trip commute ? That's the real goal for me.
That will come with practice , and well , higher temps.

    :D Go get it Edwin.

I did an oil change over the weekend. 8k miles this time, continuing to use Mobil 1 and a Bosch filter.

47.1 / 3.7 - from work to school for a boys' baseball practice
    61.2 / 7.1 - home
    52.1 / 11.4 - school and work

Last night, 2UP, tried new detour #7 which was fine apart from one stretch on an underpass which took about 8 minutes to get through and maybe 15 - 20 auto stop/starts. It was a better route for FE but a bit slower and frustrating, 8mph tailwind W, 48°F:
    43.1 / 22.8

    This morning, 2UP, 2mph head/crosswind WSW, spitting, 39°F:
47.4 (FCD 50.0) / 22.6 - First 50mpg on the FCD for some time on the commute - a sign of Spring?

    Tank up 0.5 at 44.0 (FCD 46.4) / 115.3 / Range 510 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG down 0.2 at 46.9 / DTE 518

I am amazed and happy to see how well that stop/start is working for you, Gord. Time to make that feature the norm.

    I like my stop/start better. :) But you're right , Bill.

    Today , 38 deg F , wind NNE4. 15.4 miles , 65.47 MPG. Not so bad.

Filled up today , but the pump kept shutting off early. It's a new Shell station that is right on the way to work.

I can't really get any good numbers for the tank , but the fcd said 61.3 ( 57.0 MPG actual )

I will try them again next tank and see if maybe I just got a bad pump.

This makes me think I need to start changing my oil and filter myself , just

like I did on every other car I owned before the Prius.

I don't think the Toyota dealer or anyone else wants to deal with the

BAIID device. I have about 6500 miles before I need to change it.

    I know , it's not rocket science.

    53.6 / 5.7 - home last night into a headwind
50.0 / 11.5 - school and work this morning. Raining so it was a struggle to hold the number up there.

    Tank steady at 52 / 542 mi.

Thanks Bill, I agree :D - I do some manual engine off coasts as well at low speed!

Last night, 2UP, back to normal motorway route - busy but less frustrating! 12mph cross/tailwind WNW, 46°F:
    41.1 / 22.4

This morning, 2UP, 2mph cross/headwind SSW, frosty, temperature went from 30 to 34°F:
    47.6 / 22.5 - Even better than yesterday morning :)

    Tank steady at 44.0 (FCD 46.4) / 160.2 / Range 460 . Guess gauge F_«««|««««E . UG down 0.3 at 46.6 / DTE 470

Lost first pip @ 127 miles

Went to our study group tonight, three of us. Temperature is dropping again, 17*F and snow in the forecast.
    39.5 - 2.1 mi. to friends house. 63.3 - 1.9 mi. back home.

Hey Bill, are you going to start posting your MPGE in the new Bolt? I'm curious how efficient it really is and how it does compared to it's rated range.

Today , 33 deg F , wind N6. 15.4 miles , 58.68 MPG. I don't want to sit in the car for more than a few seconds after
I get to work , so I'm mostly not reporting tank #'s every day. This tank is around 61 MPG so far.
