Someone in Longmont Colorado, about 30-40 miles north of Denver is fined for using an illegal light changing device he bought on Ebay. Firefighters are allowed to use lane changing devices in emergencies.

Darn - with one of those it would really improve my hypermiling! :D

I haven't read the article but I'm assuming it's a MIRT. Some jurisdictions are working on legislation that will allow officers to arrest for unauthorized use of such a device.

Some of the lights in Orlando have that for crosswalks, which can act as a timer for yellow lights.

That's always been a recommendation of mine, Phil. Have a timer on the lights and have a red-yellow-green light cycle as in parts of Europe. That way standard shift drivers have a warning to put their car in gear.

The only downside of the timer is that folks'll try to race the clock:rolleyes:
