I just closed a deal on a very lightly used(1670 miles) 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatchback(6MT!)to replace my 2011 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. Thanks for your feedback Mike:) 44265171.jpg :)

Awesome!!! Glad you were able to find one, the Sport Touring with the manual is super rare.

  3. On the last truck i had Michelin ltx in the summer and Michelin ltx winter tires for the winter. I could tell no difference in coasting or mpgs when I'd switch for the season. Both were lrr tires too.
This truck has lrr summer tires, and i bought blizzak winters. It feels like the brakes are dragging when i try to coast and i drop 3 mpgs when they go on for the season.
Should have paid the extra $ for the Michelin lrr winters. Oh well, next time.

Is that sonic gray? That's my favorite Civic color and it was my first choice when I ordered my Civic hatch LX 6mt. Unfortunately, Honda could provide only white which is OK. Even more unfortunate, after 4 months of waiting I gave up and cancelled the order. I"m waiting to see how the new Mazda3 shapes up and if my car doesn't last till then, hopefully I can get a used Civic hatch LX 6mt. Nice.

Yes it is the sonic grey pearl. The colour is really growing on me. I was very fortunate to find this. The timing was just right with my recent TDI buyback. First mod... Downsize the wheels and tires to something narrower?

You could probably find somebody with a lower trim Civic who'd be happy to trade with you. Maybe they'd even put in some cash too for the bigger wheels.

Personally, I've started to like the appearance of those 18" wheels, even though they do cost some efficiency. I am thinking that I will go to 215/45/18 tires once the OEM tires wear out. That could be another option for you, depending on how much you like the look of those wheels.

    Nice find. Congratulations.

Might be able to use the CivicX forum and find an EX owner to swap wheels and tires with for improved mpg. But you'd probably never make the money back in gas if you bought new wheels and tires retail.

Great minds think alike, .. and a the same time, I guess. lol

One other civic tire thought. I measured the factory firestones on my EX trim after a year, and they look like they might go 60,000 miles -- which would be awesome. Seems like I remember some high mileage driver reporting he went quite a bit further than that on said tires.

Yes they are rather easy on the eyes.

I originally went with 205/65/15 on Costco X40922 steel wheels. They worked but I didn't like the appearance, they seemed to have a relatively high offset so the wheels were tucked farther under the car and the wheel wells looked kind of empty. For cost effectiveness though, this is likely the way to go.

I found a good deal on some previous generation 17" wheels and 225/50/17 tires so that's my new winter setup. It undoubtedly costs me in fuel compared to the 15" tires, but I'm much happier with the appearance now. I have never gone with a lower profile winter tire and aluminum wheel before, so the overall verdict will have to wait until after the spring pothole season.

I was able to find some 15" Honda steel rims. we'll see how I like the looks with the 205 65R15 winter rubber:)
