VW Tiguan Accessories Concept at Wags, Wheels and Waffles Charity Event

VW outfitted an all-new 2018 Tiguan with the latest in pup themed accessories to show off at this year’s Wags, Wheels and Waffles, a charity event to find permanent homes for rescued pets. The event, held at PLATFORM and presented by Auto Conduct, featured adoptable dogs from Southern California animal charities Maeday Rescue and A Purposeful Rescue in addition to a made-to-order waffle station for attendees.

The 2018 Tiguan was outfitted to help accommodate pups in safety, luxury, and convenience. Genuine VW accessories were added with pups in mind. Kurgo Products and WeatherTech provided a large selection of pup travel accessories to improve a Tiguan’s owners journey with pups in tow.

This 2018 VW Tiguan accessories concept model is based on the seven-seat SEL Premium equipped with a 2.0L TSI I4 mated to the std. 8-speed AT w/ Stop/Start and equipped with the brands 4Motion AWD w/ Drive Mode Select.

Riding on 19” alloys, the practical Tiguan concept features a modern variation of the pop-up roof—the Urban Loader cargo box. When empty, the Urban Loader offers a sleek, minimized appearance; when needed for hauling, it can expand to a 17.7 cubic-foot container, perfect for hauling bulky items belonging to your two or four-legged friends.

The inside of the dog-friendly Tiguan features a Kurgo Tru-Fit dog car harness that allows dogs to be buckled in but still able to access the convenient kibble carrier for snacks. Custom VW seat covers and all-season floor mats can help with an easy cleanup for snacks left behind. Dogs will find it easy to get in and out of the concept Tiguan thanks to a WeatherTech PetSTEP pet ramp. The Tiguan’s second row also features an innovative universal tablet mount that can allow passengers to bring a popular variety of touchscreen tablets along for a getaway. Other accessories designed into the build of the Tiguan include side window and hood deflectors, a heavy-duty trunk liner with extended seat-back coverage, and aluminum side steps to help Volkswagen owners and their pets step into their next adventure.

In MotorWeek compact SUV comparison test the Tiguan won just before the CR-V. That said the fuel economy is below average in this class. Certainly compared to the CR-V.
I do wonder when we see again a VW hybrid. With all the electrification talk not seeing much yet from VW/Audi.
