No more stick for the Elantra in 2020 - cause of death: addition of "Automatic Emergency Braking" - the marketing term for Computerized Collision Generator for Morons Who Don't Watch Where They're Going.
You can still get the mysterious third pedal in the Accent and Veloster (the AMC Marlin version of the Elantra) - at least for now - so get em while you can.

Only boomers and their parents know what an AMC Marlin is.
It's that giant fish mounted up on the wall in your local (AMC) theater.

The Marlin looked more like a Rambler Classic that tried to hold back a sneeze.
That's back when they made cars for real men - A 3200 pound six passenger iron barge with manual steering, manual teeny-tiny drum brakes, vacuum-actuated windshield wipers that stopped working when you floored the accelerator, and the three was on the tree, where God intended the lever to be. Add in bias ply tires, torque tube rear end (same as the Model T), and no front stabilizer bar, and you have a car that does aileron rolls when taking cloverleaf exits at any speed above 30. Not for the faint of heart.

All that's missing is to swap the 800 hp Dodge engine into the Marlin. :D

That's why I always love to tell Wayne, how much I love our manual 2016 Elantra, that looks to be well on its way to 200,000+ miles. Always wanted a FIT, but it never fit my bank account. Never knew why auto reviewers compared other cars to Hyundai's, because Hyundai's could be obtained for LESS than retail, while other dealer's arrogantly dealt, retail plus.

I don't know if that is still true, other than for more exotic vehicles.

My truth was that other dealers wouldn't drop their prices to me, but Hyundai dropped their prices to me WITHOUT making me feel that I was a cheapskate. It was their tradition for many long years to offer great deals....because their cars weren't reliable. Hyundai tried to join all the non-dealing dealers, as their vehicles got better, culminating in the great "fluidic" cars. Presently, they have returned to their tradition, treat their customers as equals, & readily deal downward.

I hear you... I used to be a lot more shy about negotiating, but I've gotten bolder lately perhaps. The internet changes things when you make the dealerships compete for your business without you having to fend off a salesperson and her/his business manager. I've still had to deal with the latter mostly due to trade-ins, but I still think things have improved for the Chevy, Ford, Subaru and Toyota dealers I've dealt with in New England (i.e. northeast USA).

When I bought the Prius in 2015 , the Internet price was about $4500 off MSRP.
No trade-in ( I gave my 08 Civic to daughter #2 ) , so I figured it would be smooth sailing.
When I got there , my salesman had conveniently forgotten our phone conversation from the day
before and tried to open negotiations at $500 off sticker. I straightened him out real fast.

I was talking about vehicle dealers & Hyundai being the best to deal. Wasn't talking about myself.

I get what you're saying and understand the difference.

I could say more, but instead, I'll apologize to all for going off topic.
