    Kia August 2016 Sales Overview

    Kia achieved August sales of 54,248 vehicles, down 7.9 percent below the 58,897 sold in August of 2015. YTD sales of 442,544 are up 3.8 percent over the 426,160 sold through the same period of 2015.

    The Rio, Forte and Sportage all had a great month.

    Rio sales of 3,325 vehicles were up 91.8 percent over the 1,734 sold in August of 2015. YTD sales of 22,024 is up 17.2 percent over the 18,796 sold through the same period of 2015.

    Forte sales of 8,307 were up 21.1 percent over the 6,862 sold in August of 2015. YTD sales of 71,352 is up 23.2 percent over the 57,912 sold through the same period of 2015.

    Sportage sales of 6,888 were up 19.8 percent over the 5,749 sold in August of 2015. YTD sales of 57,228 is up 63.5 percent over the 34,996 sold through the same period of 2015.

    August 2016 U.S. Automobile Market Share Detail

    In August, Ford’s U.S. market share was down a significant 0.7 percent.

    Subaru on the other hand experienced an uptick of 0.7 percent thanks to their blowout August results shown below.

    On a volume basis, August of 2016 US Auto sales of 1.51 million vehicles down a rather steep 3.8 percent below August of 2015s 1.57 million vehicle sales result.

    2016 YTD sales of 11.2 million is up 0.3 percent above the 11.58 million vehicles sold through the same period of 2015.

    In August, Toyota moved within 1,357 vehicles of overtaking Ford for the 2nd position. The juggernaut called Subaru overtook Kia and has now placed Hyundai clearly in its gun sights.

    The seasonally adjusted annual selling rate (SAAR) for light vehicles in August was 17.2 million vehicles. On a YTD sales basis, light-vehicle SAAR was 17.3 million vehicles.
