    Hi All:

Not to add fuel to the fire but Prius sales are really flat so expect some serious discounts in the coming months depending on fuel prices.

I was at a local Toyota dealer with my mom the other day. They only had (2) 2016 Prius Twos with the NiMH packs. I bet they had a ton more in the back as Jeff described. I should have looked.

I would like to own a Two Eco - imagine that ;) - or in particular, the upcoming Prime PHEV-22 with its better looking front piano black grille and more distinctive rear end thanks to the horizontal racetrack LED tail lamps.

Is it strange that I'm just now (within 48 hours) starting to come around to the new Prius? It probably helps that I spent a little time with the mileage logs from my 2G: 52.4mpg over 92,000mi from a vehicle that would be rated today at 46mpg combined. Despite my best efforts I could never get it below 40mpg, even though that damn blizzard in '09.

Today's Prius is 13% more efficient and, by all appearances, a far more livable vehicle. Perhaps my perspective has been tainted by the luxury of "cheap" gas, and it's time to look at this differently.

I won't lie, I'm starting to want one. (But maybe not in lime green.)

They grow on you over time, especially at the gas pump.

On a bike ride today , our local dealer had more 2016 Prii than I could count. I'm not kidding. I had to ride down a long row of them , consult the bike computer ( reads in .01 mile increments ) and divide by 9 ft ( estimated width of parking spot). I calculated around 65 cars. Not a 2015 in sight , either. Where did they go ? Another thing : all the 15" tire cars were 44 psi max ( even the few Two Eco's ) and the 17" tire cars were 51 psi. Another thing : they are charging $395 for a "special color". Do people cough up another $400 just to have "Blizzard Pearl" ?

And yeah , they look a little goofy. But that doesn't matter to me. Do I wish I could have waited a year to buy a car ? Sure. But there's always something better coming. A 200 mile BEV ? Hmmmm......

I hadn't realized that Blizzard Pearl was an added-cost color, but it does show up on the configurator as a $395. Same with Hypersonic Red.

Someone at PC put together a nice table to help figuring out which options come on what trim level. 2016 Prius Options

You know, a lot of people seem to be hating on the new Prius (Spouse included) But I actually kind of like it. It's a bit funky, even for my tastes. But it's a quite handsome car. Plus, when you're driving you don't even see the exterior, so what's the point ;)

Minus the mutation-looking headlights, it's not a bad looking piece of kit. Prius is finally losing its blobby b-movie spaceship look. And the ricey Altezzas! Nice to see it is starting to gain some sleek lines to go with its aerodynamic prowess. Now get the gauges in front of the driver and figure out a stick shift and we'd be on the right path!

I like when a new car excites me. We were picking up oil and filter at our local dealership; they had a single Blizzard Pearl Touring on the lot. It was a leetle bit exciting, but sorry: like the looks of our 2010 a lot better. Both the out and in.

^ I absolutely agree. For me, I need a car to sing to me, so to speak, to make me to want to buy it. While for some it's the inside that counts, when I am detailing it I am still going to have to look at the outside. If I don't like what I see, I am just not going to buy it. I have had some pretty funky cars, but this one really does nothing to stir my soul. This is one of those cases that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What's exciting to me - the unmatched efficiency of this car , compared to any other petrol car. THAT stirs my soul.

I still have to look at it in my driveway and this design does nothing for me. Add to that the driving dynamics of the car and this is the kind of car that would not last long in my driveway as I would grow tired of it very quickly. It's that whole different strokes for different folks.

Pretty close, though. It's the first thing I thought of when I saw it. ;-)
