Whoa, that's interesting. So If drive from LA to Palm Springs or San Diego, I should deplete miles in EV mode, turn on Charge Battery mode, then when it's full, go back to EV mode and repeat?!

    PS.
All Audi and VW cars I've since 2000 always recommend using 91 octane, but I don't think it affects warranty if one uses 87.

    Hi Benjamin:

You would not want to charge/discharge in a cycle as there would be no gain on the Interstate. What you can do is consume your home charge, then switch to Charge Battery mode when driving down the Interstate. When the pack is full, she will transition to Hold Mode. Leave it there until you transition to a planned light to light inner city/urban area. At that time, swap to EV mode and consume your full pack while driving in said inner city environment.

You also want to make sure that when you get to your final destination with a Level1 or Level2 outlet that you have consumed every last mile of that pack. The big energy savings is from the wall outlet, not the car charging itself.

    IHTHs?

Thanks, Wayne. So from your tests, am I correct to assume that the e-tron's on board computer calculation of MPG is fairly accurate?

    Ben,

VW/Audi have usually been quite accurate with the on board calculations. Our 2001 TT is no exception. It is usually within a couple of tenths to actual.

    Hi Benjamin:

You are actually receiving even more efficiency than indicated due to the shortage on miles. FTC has caused the odometer shortfall across the industry after the Honda mess from about five years ago.

Few OEMs provide an accurate Average Fuel Consumption Display (aFCD) and I congratulate Audi for both their accuracy and honesty in the case of the Audi A3 e-tron.

So , you have permission to drive like a jack-ass because you have a PHEV ? I'll bet the 13-year-old neighbor boy is mightily impressed.
