Hi All: #2016RAM1500 - Hat of the day goes to Ram and their fantastically efficient 21/29 mpgUS city/highway rated 2016 RAM 1500 HFE EcoDiesel. As driven, $39,575 incl. a Customer Preferred pkg. ($695) - body colored front and rear fascia, mats, fog lamps and carpet - and the ($1,195) D&H. Discounts pull the super truck down to just over $30k for those interested. It will be an interesting week or two in the most fuel efficient full size truck on the market and then some. Wayne
Hi All: #2016RAM1500 - Filled the 2016 RAM 1500 HFE EcoDiesel up at a Shell on Barranca in Irvine for its initial calibration drive. Capless fuel port reduces accuracy over short distances tremendously but we will see how she runs. Wayne
Interior pictures please Is it 2wd or 4 WD ? I do not think I have ever seen a 2 WD crew cab in Canada
What the heck does a diesel need a fancy capless filler system for... Most vehicles I've driven, it's just a hole where you dump fuel into. There are next to nil evaporative emissions with diesel, so I didn't think caps (or fancy capless contraptions) were even needed.
Hi All: #2016RAM1500 - Short hop calibration drive with the 2016 RAM 1500 HFE EcoDiesel is complete. The final came in at 64.8 miles on 1.572 gal for a 41.2 result. We may have a more accurate offset with a much longer drive coming up... Wayne
Are you seeing the crew cabs for 30k? Full 4 doors? Like my Silverado? Not the double cab, ext cab, mini back doors?
Hi All: #2016RAM1500 - With the 2016 RAM 1500 HFE EcoDiesel as another day comes to a close along the Pacific Coast... Wayne
Wow! Impressive #S. Looking forward to seeing the steady speed graph along with the changes that make the 2016 HFE more efficient.
Hi All: This is one damn efficient big red truck thanks to a powerful little thing called EcoDiesel. This 2016 RAM 1500 HFE is about to tackle a San Diego Rush Hour in style... Wayne
#2016Ram1500 Hi All: Why wouldn't you choose an EcoDiesel? The 2016 RAM 1500 HFE with the EcoDiesel took on a good ole fashion San Diego Rush Hour stop and crawl... Meaning 45 miles in just over 2.5 hours. I have driven compact through HD trucks through some ugly traffic in my life but nothing I have driven to date incl. the new Colorado/Canyon with the Duramax twins has offered up anything close to this level of efficiency in this kind of traffic condition. No DPF regens in the 200 + miles I have driven to date and the DEF tank needle has not budged. Tranny fluid temp has been well controlled between 181 and 191 degrees F even in the worst stop and crawl. Combustion tuning and that tranny coolant loop have been worked to provide both a more efficient and reliable truck. Damn impressed with this RAM EcoDiesel once again. Wayne
Hi All: 2016 RAM 1500 HFE with the EcoDiesel coming to the rescue of a Toyota again. Son's GF's 08 #Corolla needs a new battery but first it needed a jump. A few yeas back another RAM 1500 with an EcoDoesel performed the same services for my other sons 03 Corolla. I detect a pattern here. #Turbo #Diesel #Rescue Wayne
One guy post that he has done though 3 oil coolers and had a broken Axle shaft , with his ram with Ecodiesel
#2016Ram Hi All: The 1500 EcoDiesel has been performing well in the Southern California maelstrom of traffic as shown. I experienced the first DPF regen at the 308 mile mark and lost 3/10ths of an mpg over an ~ 5 mile distance. Well controlled and quick. For a 21/29 mpg rated truck in some of the worst traffic conditions in the country, to average 35+ is truly spectacular. Now time to try and complete some steady states as it is supposed to rain Saturday and Sunday... Wayne
Pattern? Sure, your sons & girlfriend(s) don't know how to maintain their cars' batteries. Was that your thought? ;-) Cheers, Bill
Hi Airbalancer: Where did you find the resale from? The 2016 2X4 HFE with the EcoDiesel lists for $39k and can be picked up for < $30k here in the states. Wayne
#2016Ram1500 Hi All: Just after 04:00 am and trying to finish off the steady states with the 2016 Ram 1500 HFE with the EcoDiesel. To much traffic after 05:30 am yesterday so I only knocked out the 50 and 55 mph results. This morning I am battling the weather with rain bands coming onshore hampering my ability to finish these off. Wayne #Efficient #Turbo Diesel
Wayne No co-pilot? Guessing Pups isn't much on waaaay predawn FE runs! Charlie PS- The good price-$30,000 -thanks to $1.55 gas No matter what the talking heads say-fuel will SPIKE again. The Saudis are once again setting us up for a an economics lesson. Once our production-and Russian production-is down-they will restrict supply-drive up the price A bigger ME war would do it too-straights of Hormuz etc Doesn't matter that we aren't literally dependent on ME oil-our prices will spike if when supply is restricted- The Chinese will probably manage to recover-and their energy needs will spike again
Sergio Marchonne (sp) , head honcho of FCA , says low oil prices are a permanent thing. He even plans to quit making their own compact and mid-size sedans so they can focus on more SUV's and trucks. Instead , they will "partner" with another automaker to get compact and mid-size sedans. Get ready to short FCA shares ! What a pea-brain.
