Update -- today the US Honda website lists "Fold-down rear seatback" as an interior feature on the LX manual. So, I dunno. I guess they're still figuring it out. Even though they fixed the "deal killer" .. it still might be worth looking into the Canada option for the better (exchange rate) price and additional features.
Civic coupe: Can't wait to see this in person. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-sho...ews/a27374/2016-honda-civic-coupe-first-look/
Good news! I hope the R&T scoop is for reals. That's a good looking car. The coupes always look a little better. Guess I'm going to have to wait and see what develops with all of the models before I make any decisions. If they can get the Honda Sensing (specifically the ACC) packaged in with a 6mt, that'd be great, .. I'm guessing that would only be with the 1.5T (if at all). The turbo would be a hoot. 0 to 60 in 6.8 AND 40+ mpg .... not bad Utah.
I like the coupe a lot but the back hinges at the bottom of the rear glass instead of the top which hurts the utility. I haven't been able to find pics of the back open and the rear seats down. How would my bicycle fit? The coupe is lighter than the sedan and lighter than the outgoing coupe.
In my '13 coupe a medium sized bicycle will fit (utilizing the pass-through) with the front wheel off. The '16 trunk is substantially bigger (on the coupe too, I presume) so it should be ok. Yeah it should be about 2700 lbs so the 1.5t will have some giddy up.
I like the looks of the coupe, but anytime I get in one with a sunroof I simply do not fit. The issue is I am one of those people that truly love having a sunroof. If this new generation suffers from the same issue with truncated ceiling height, it will just be another car that I do not fit in. Not the end of the world, but a shame none the less.
Saw this on another website. It's undetermined if it's just a sporty model or all models, but the good news is that it's at least in development.
I hate sunroofs and my cars always end up having them. Why pay extra money for something that will weaken the chassis, reduce headroom, and eventually leak or have other mechanical issues? I have never found them useful at all while driving as now the sun is directly in my eyes when it's sunny and the wind noise and buffeting quickly persuade me to close the thing up again. The LX has no sunroof, but all other trims do. I sat in the new EX sedan (with the hated sunroof) a few days ago and it had plenty of headroom. (I'm 6'3") Legroom was barely enough, though. (36"inseam). The new coupe has more headroom and legroom than the outgoing coupe supposedly, but we'll have to wait on specs. I would be very pleased if the coupe has more legroom than the new sedan since the coupe is the style I'm most interested in.
Honda's chief drivetrain engineer says the 1.5T will get a 6M but it was important to get the CVT ready for it first. I'm OK with that since I don't want the sedan and the other iterations won't be released till next year or later.
Hi All: 2016 Civic Coupe as seen on the LAAS Floor in the Honda area this past Wednesday and Thursday. Wayne
Wayne, did you shoot that? If so, I have a request: can you get a photo of the back open with the seats down?
Hi Jay: That train has left the station. Sorry I did not get that interior hatch with the seat down pic as I was running pretty quickly through everyone's displays to grab shots. As an example, I took "one" shot of the Civic Sedan on a whim and on the fly. I should have stopped and taken a bit more time as it is out of focus but I was in to much of a hurry. Looked great in black too! Wayne
Hi Jay: Will do. An update: The 2017 Honda Civic will offer a 6-speed MT with the 1.5L turbo engine. Wayne
Jay, FWIW, I measured my '13 Civic Coupe "bike space"" -The pass through is 20" wide at the bottom to a maximum of 34" at the mid point (then narrows again somewhat towards the top). - The pass through height is 15" at it's tallest. - The length of the storage space measured from the front seat backs to the inside edge of the trunk is 61". My bicycle goes in with the front wheel off, handlebar turned 90 deg, rear wheel first. I don't have to adjust the seat down. The 34" width still has a few spare inches, but the 61" length is pretty well maxed out for a medium sized person and medium sized bike... so this (2013) scenario for a tall person probably wouldn't work out. My guess is still that you'd be ok in a 2016 because of all the extra trunk/cabin length. 2016 measurement recommendations: If you get a chance, I'd set the drivers seat up for your driving position and then make sure there's 64"(?) as a minimum storage length space and also make sure Honda hasn't shrunk the 34" x 15" pass through hole any. Wayne, thanks for the update. Do you think the 1.5t/6mt combo will be available in all 3 versions of the Civic?
Jay, I never had a problem with the sedan. As a matter of fact, I almost purchased a Civic SI. When I sat in the coupe, my head rubbed. The sunroof is a "one man's junk is another man's treasure" sort of thing. I prefer it for nighttime driving as I do not like the noise from the side windows being open. I usually have a visor added if the sunroof does cause any sort of buffeting.
Hi All: I cannot for the life of me get behind the wheel of a 16 Civic here in LA so I am flying back to Chicago for a week to get behind the wheel of one there. Not sure of the drivetrain or trim but it is scheduled for the 10th through the 16th. Wayne
