This week, at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, Arizona-based automobile manufacturer Local Motors stole the show. Over the six day span of the IMTS, the company managed to 3D print, and assemble an entire automobile, called the ‘Strati’, live in front of spectators.

I dunno. If they are putting all this effort in to an open car that has pretty awful aerodynamics, then I am not sure why this matters?

They're just trying to showcase their technology , in a way that's bound to impress many.
I'm not too thrilled with 3d printers; but I'm basing my opinion on the 2005 printer we had , and the unfortunate applications my boss chose for it.
