Did you try right clicking and "run as administrator"? Should eliminate the need to use full admin account.

    Hi Rich:

Yup. It was not available from setup so I had to create/unhide the Admin acct. and install it from there.

    Hi All:

Got to hand it to Microsoft’s team. I run thousands of pages of Chrome and with Win 7, memory usage on my old laptop and desktop would climb to the 2 to 3 GB range. It was a killer on the laptop. Been testing this one by running page loops with Win 8.1 and Chrome is still showing just 178 MB. Love this laptop.

Not hitting whatever key(s) that used to make the cursor tab over and up anymore either. Much more productive albeit it is still a laptop.

Good stuff Microsoft and Toshiba. After the shell was installed that Rich linked to earlier. :)

Of course, you should try IE25.9 and compare that to the results you got with
Chrome. Credit may be due to Google. ;)

To be fair, though, I am running Chrome on WinXP Pro and that combo still has some
memory leaks. I also found Chrome to be a memory hog and it runs many copies of
itself, mostly paged out but still...

I really like my i3 Samsung with 8 GB of memory (I maxed it out as memory is cheap) with Win 8.1. I have not had any issues. Yeah some of the information is hidden/in different spots then in wiin7, but for the smaller foot print and speed I would go with Win8.1 (not 8.0) any day.

Right click on your Windows Icon and you get back (in Win8.1) a lot of the common admin features you are used to.
On the Metro (tile) screen. click on downward pointing arrow and it will show you all the applications you have installed on your machine. The search can also be your friend.

Once you have everything in place, you will find that you don't need to access the admin functions very often.

    Hi Die2self:

To used to the Start button and menus and am working like normal in it. Sounds like you have it figured out quite well.

Spent most of the afternoon cleaning up backup archives of Outlook and moved around about 70,000 messages. Long day for sure. Should be done within the hour hopefully and I can call it good other than moving about 100 GBs of Reviews, General pics and vids, news, and post files over. Maybe tomorrow for that.

Really glad I picked this deal up. Have not seen one this good since I picked it up. It is almost as easy to get work done as my desktop.
