Run your furnace with a Prius

    I would have just slept in the car ;)

    I thought most furnaces run on gas and are designed to still work when power goes out?

    Most are electric start so you still need power for them to work. This was one reason I had the 220V line to the stove taken out and replaced with a gas line. Even if the power goes out I still can use my stove top for cooking.

    My gas furnace requires electricity. Otherwise, how do you expect it to push the hot air around our house ? And yes, I know there are gas-fired boilers with radiators , but I have never owned a home with one of those. I doubt that many homes built after 1950 use radiant heat.
