[IMG]Thousands of Journalists from around the world for two days of press conferences covering a number of brand new North American vehicle introductions.

LA was only a preview to the main event in Detroit.

Detroit has hosted an auto show of one sort or another for over a century. For the first several decades of its existence, the show's focus was strictly regional. In 1989, that changed when a visionary group of auto dealers within the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) asked a bold question: Why not make the event truly national in scope? For that matter, why not make it the best auto show in the United States? Achieving this objective within only a few years' time, the North American International Auto Show pursues a vision of continually redefining what it means to be the auto industry's indispensable North American event. To achieve this goal, the Auto Show continually introduces bold new ways to enhance attendees' experience and deliver exceptional value to media, industry and the public.

Show Layout Changes for the Better

For CleanMPG members covering the show, the Michelin Media Center is no longer on the third level far from the show floor but now in Michigan Hall on the main floor!
Michelin was the first sponsor to sign on when the former Detroit Auto Show re-invented itself as the North American International Auto Show. Michelin continues to offer unparalleled support to the NAIAS, and to the thousands of journalists who cover the event.

Besides the closer location, the Michelin Media Center is larger by 1,000 sq. feet and will continue to provide a complete business center for James, Mike and Kacey including their meals, snacks and beverages throughout the two days of fun :D

    Press Schedule

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) press conference schedule for the 2013 show should not only be revealing as far as vehicles we have not seen as of yet go but also challenging given the resurgence of the auto industry from the depths of the recession. Rumors abound about a huge number of journalists that have already signed on for the Press Preview on Jan. 9-10.

As of this writing, 37 press conferences are scheduled over the two days by both manufacturers and Tier One suppliers from around the world. Each NAIAS-scheduled press conference will take place at the recently expanded Cobo Center and adjacent Joe Louis Arena (JLA) for the Ford reveal on Tuesday morning.

The two-day, media event schedule is packed with new vehicle and industry announcements that will make news that is sure to reverberate around the globe. With a number of new vehicles introductions, the show confirms its position among the top automotive events on the planet, and is a demonstration of the continuing confidence automakers have in the NAIAS.

Just don't ask for any spirits there, since they haven't had any since 1999?? or is it 1989?

I hope VIA has dropped their price about 50% :D I still need a newer van. (looked at a used nv 2500 today)

What is Kaceys user name? I've been in contact with Mike and I think I'm picking him up on the way in.

Are they mailing the passes or do we pick up at will call?

    Hi James:

They are sending them here but you can pick them up at the show with your DL.

Remember business casual as a minimum.

Kacey Green is Kacey Green :)

  5. Business casual or suit and tie for day one?

    Hi James:

I go in a suit and tie but that is me. Mike is always decked out as well and Kacey is higher end business casual with a tie. A button down with a sports jacket is more than sufficient if you want to go business casual.

Just make sure you speak with Mike Levine about the 3.2L I5 Power Stroke ok ;)

  7. Mike and the transit van are on my list for sure.

    Hi All:

More on the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Global automakers have saved their best for the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), and with less than one month to go before the curtain rises, the industry remains focused on one of the top automotive events in the world.

Automakers from around the world continue to place NAIAS at the top of their global auto show strategies, and have committed to more than 50 vehicle debuts with the majority being worldwide unveilings!

The official NAIAS Press Conference Schedule released just today features nearly 40 official events to be held at Press Preview, Jan. 14-15, 2013.

Together, the more than 50 worldwide and North American unveilings are a major demonstration of confidence in the NAIAS, which is frequently compared with shows in Geneva, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, and Beijing/Shanghai.

Most NAIAS press conferences will take place at Detroit's Cobo Center, which is currently in the second of a three-phase expansion plan. Some events will take place in the new three-story glass atrium facing the Detroit River. The lone offsite press conference will be presented by Ford Motor Company at neighboring Joe Louis Arena on Jan. 15.

With more than 6,000 journalists from around the globe expected to attend NAIAS, the show continues to be at the forefront as a venue for manufacturers and Tier One suppliers to announce new vehicles and make industry news.
  9. Just heard on the radio that the consturction 'should be' done for the show. As of yesterday rain was coming in where roof repairs are taking place.

Maybe I'll bring my rain gear just in case :D

    Hi James:

I am sure there will be no rain as the forecast is 70 and "lighty" inside on the show floor :)

I also received an invite from VW for their pre-show (Sunday January 13th beginning at 07:30 PM) get together with live music, food and drink at the College for Creative Studios Center in downtown Detroit.

Do you guys want me to sign you up for that?

  11. I would like to, but I think the agent would shoot me if I make it into 3 days :). She doesn't like being left out of the partys

Haven't heard for sure when Mike and Kacey are getting in.

    Hi All:

Honda will be introducing a World Debut of an all-new Compact "Urban SUV Concept" at the 2013 North American International Auto Show

The Urban SUV Concept is a global concept model combining an SUV profile with a spacious, functional interior.

That's about all I have on it for now?

All the while I am still wondering what happened to the 2013 Honda Accord Hybrid releases?

  13. Next Monday! :woot:

James, there are rumors of a new or drastically upgraded JK Wrangler with emphasis on fuel economy. Can you ask the jeeps people when you are there.
