    Thanks Kirk!

Here is how I have my UG set up currently (subject to change at any moment.)

This setup works pretty well for me.

My UG reports pretty much the same average speed that the car's trip computer displays.
You may have to reset yours.
Mine went all wacky when I added short and long term fuel trim gauges, and I had to zero everything out (didn't bother to reset the UG itself,) I started a thread about it, but I'm not too worried.

Any suggestions for sneaking an Ultra Gauge EM past my wife? I only have 3 pages on my older model. I know I can send mine in and get an update, but what the heck would I do while waiting?

Well, you can find the nearest deer, hit it, then send your UG in to be updated while your car is in the shop and you're driving a loaner...

Other than that, you could just buy a new UG EM and present your "old" one to your wife.
You know... to read codes and such :D.

I've had $13K in deer damage over the last two years, my insurance agent might get upset if I hit one this year. Do you think she would fall for the "I won an online contest" trick?

I'm only up to $6500+ so far!

    An online contest?
    I don't see why it wouldn't work...

Or maybe you could also buy a little something for her.
Then while she is distracted by the shiny thing, you can be in the car setting up your new UG EM!

    I smell a plan...;)

I just realized that I posted about my last tank in last week's daily grind. I adjusted my tanks back to the odometer numbers, didn't want to deal with keeping track of two sets of numbers.

I should be adding a tank on Saturday.
I could fill up tomorrow (5 of 12 pips) before I head out on some long(er) range trips, but I will have more than enough to make it until Saturday.
I did the math (using December numbers, which give me a little bit of a buffer) and it comes out to no more than 2.75 gallons for the whole day tomorrow (out of 5+ gallons sitting in the tank right now).
    The good part?
I'm currently siting on 39.XMPG (from a high of 45.X in the beginning of this tank, all city since then) and waiting until Saturday will give me a chance to break the 40MPG tank average barrier for the first time!
    Wish me luck!

    Go Jon go!
I'm hoping for a record tank too when I fill up next week.

    I'll be filling up tomorrow.
Thursday's trip didn't bring the tank average up to 40 :(, but my UG normally reads a little low, so there's hope yet.
I ended up using 2.81 gallons for the day Thursday (can't remember how many miles), so my prediction of 2.75 gallons wasn't too far off.
Here are the tank averages as of now (and a flickr test)

    I DID IT!!!!!

It also appears that I need to recalibrate my UG for summer gas?

14 days on this tank, with an elapsed (engine on) time of 13 hours and 38 minutes (trip computer figure).
    70% city driving.
Average speed of 32 MPH (the car's trip computer figure).
A computed 0.8143 gallons per hour average for the tank (spreadsheet figure).
Cost per mile of $0.096 (spreadsheet figure), $3.799 per gallon.
11.102 gallons consumed over 453.0 (adjusted) miles for a Personal Record 40.8052 MPG!

I had a little highway on this tank (one trip at the begining and one at the end on Saturday), so that and slightly warmer temps helped out a bit.

    Nice job Jon,

I predict that soon you will be upset with anything less than 40 mpg.

Low fuel light came on at 686 (record :D ) and I was going to fill-up tomorrow but I won't have time so had to fill up 'early' this morning. Dropped off car pooler and nipped back to garage. Bit disappointed as UG was indicating higher but it's still a record full tank :woot:. I'm glad to be back in the 50's after 5 tanks in the 40's:

    13.58galls over 688.5 miles = 50.7MPG (Needs another of these :woot: :D)

    That's my 8th tank in a row of 600+ miles :)
