I'm guessing it's from Ford press releases. With numbers this good, they want to get the word out before it's official from the EPA.

Don't forget, probably safer too. Lots of advancements and additions towards safety over the last 15 years :)

I'd love a manual version of the hybrid with the Ecoboost. I don't think that'll be an option, though. Maybe in 8 more years when I hope to upgrade from the Prius. Who knows what the options will be at that point, though!

Oh, you're absolutely right on the safety issue. That's definitely a factor I consider when I buy a car - the Civic was one of the safer options in its day.

Keep in mind that you won't get as far past the EPA ratings in a Fusion as you can in your Civic simply because of the weight. The FFH looks to have my Elantra beat every which way to Sunday but I can still outscore it with the Elantra because of the lighter weight by at least 5mpg on the same route in the same conditions.

Oh, I know. I'm also remembering that the Fiesta could manage 63, but my Civic in similar conditions the next day gave me 75. I wonder if the Ecoboost will make up some of the difference?

It may but I'm thinking you'll see the same sort of behavior as that shown by the Cruze Eco. The car is relatively heavy for the displacement so the steady state numbers will be very good but whenever you want to get some acceleration it will drop into boost.

In other words, I think it just isn't going to have the sort of overhead necessary to shoot the numbers way high the way your Civic can because it won't respond as well to P&G.
