Mazda5! It's available with a stick for you even, Wayne.
You mean this one?

Mazda North America will debut the all-new version of its popular, trend-setting, in-a-class-of-its-own, MAZDA5 multi-activity vehicle at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Since it launched in 2005, MAZDA5 redefined the definition of small family transport vehicles, by offering seating for six in three easily configurable rows, as well as styling and dynamics simply not found in any other vehicle in this segment. This type of insight and fun to drive engineering is found in all Mazdas, and is defined by the term “Zoom-Zoom.”
The 2012 MAZDA5 incorporates motifs from Mazda’s NAGARE design language which, inspired by the beauty of nature, presents an elegant look not found in any existing vehicle today. It’s an appealing look that captures the eye upon first glance. Changes run deep under the skin, too, as the vehicle is now powered by a 157-hp 2.5-liter MZR I4 engine, and can be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. Outstanding fuel economy and unexpected drivability are carried over from the previous model, as is the vehicle’s unique, multi-configurable seating for six.
The 12 will not be out for quite some time so we may have to hold off on that one. The Upcoming Toyota MPV hybrid will be on my list when and if it becomes available.
Andrew, the idea of a Fiesta shootout is a good one. I am thinking of routes and the possibility right now.
Matthew, I am not familiar with any of the Kia PR folks but with their own Hybrid and some interesting offerings including the Elantra sibling, maybe I should make a few contacts.
And with that, I am running out of time with all of these requests as Reviews and even Previews as sometimes they are 40 + hour write-ups for me. I hope to do maybe 4 or 5 but sometimes one just happens to come up at the last minute that surprises me. This year it was the 11 Ford Super Duty w/ the Power Stroke, the 10 Yamaha WR250X and the 11 Nissan LEAF. Next year, who knows?
A request of my own… I would like to get a number of CleanMPG’ers together behind the wheel of an 11 Explorer w/ the 2.0L ECOboost, the 11 BMW X5d w/ the 3.0L turbo diesel and/or an 11 VW Toureg TDI w/ its 3.0L turbo diesel and take them all out on a theme drive. Nose to tail like we did with the 100th year anniversary NY to San Francisco Great Race Reenactment in the first and second generation HCH's, the European Civic Diesel and the second generation Prius-II a few years back. Maybe we could take the beasts on a 3 to 4-day extended weekend camping trip to visit a State or National Park and make it a real review drive vs. the simple ride and drives we are usually exposed to.
The idea may include the Circle Lake Tour (Lake Michigan that is) with some camping at the most beautiful State Park in all of Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan overlooking the Mackinac Bridge. I have camped there and it is a pretty spectacular locale let alone being able to push 3 of my possibly future favorite family haulers to the edge of their capabilities with drivers who know what they are doing vs. everybody else’s (C&D, R&T, MT, MW, AW, DFP, DN, LAT, NYT, CT, CST …) attempt at writing a review on their drives while using both feet and usually at the same time
If anyone is interested, please let me know.
And as always, make sure you speak with some of the others that have been christened with a CleanMPG Review ride and drive with yours truly either behind the wheel, looking over their shoulder or on the radio in communication with the other car(s) on a darn near patented theme drive before you were to even consider such an endeavor. The Drill Sergeant will be in attendance and until you experience that dumb SOB’s push for the best FE no matter who is driving what, your life is probably not complete
I don't care if it's the 2012 or 2011. I just want to see what could be expected with one. Any sort of people-mover, really. High MPG + room for 3 carseats is what I need. The Elantra is a major squeeze; I've seen it done in a Sonata but that's tight too.
Wayne, I'd definitely be in for that if I can get the time. Those kind of road trip reviews are my favorite to read and I'd love to take part in one some time.
I just made a tweet request to some Honda folks for the 2011 CBR250R while at the LA Auto Show in two weeks. Just for a night but I am not sure they have any in Torrance right now? I know they have some prototypes on the Motorcycle Show circuit as the Dallas show is in just 4-days (Chuck, you want to go to that one?) but I do not know if it/they are even road worthy?
