    I am now TOTALLY confused.

621 miles on this tank -- which is GREAT.

Refilled the tank 9.661 (64.27 mpg IF not filled up to top)

Continued until topped off at 12.475, gas is visible at brim, didn't sink.

I held the nozzle, returned the cap and closed the gas lid.

Waited for 5 minutes (yes, held nozzle that long)

Reopened the cap and gas is not visible, filled up to 12.913 (.438 gallon more)

There is no gas leak anywhere under car...

    621 miles, 12.913 = 48 mpg -- I feel so looow...

What is going on with gas? What am I doing wrong? I am starting to doubt my 59 mpg record... It might be lower than what it actually is...

You'll have to wait until you get down to F to know for sure. Estimate 50-55 mpg and hand-calculate how many gallons at that point. If you keep notes on that point for each tank, you can calculate the actual mpg.

I usually call it done and don't wait another 5 minutes.

Alright, thanks Andrew, will do that route.

I'm demoted from "Elite" to "Expert" -- grr....

    Good Morning All.

I am currently working on mpguino project -- since I got Droid, I am SERIOUSLY derailed from mpguino. I downloaded Speedometer software (SportsTracker Pro) that keeps track of speed, altitude and pace. It is AWESOME! Android technology seems to provide new avenue for us as hypermiler.

Do any of you hypermilers have Android phone?

I have an HTC Incredible Android phone. Thanks for the tip on the speedo app. I'm going to go look that up now.

Hmm, not sure if I'm looking for the right app. I can't seem to find what you were describing.

I have the Moto Droid and it is great! Just upgraded my wife to a Droid X and it is even better. I have an upgrade available, but I am going to wait until around Christmas. They seem to release new stuff around then and after the first of the year.

I found it in the Droid Market. Search for SportsTracker Pro and it pops up.
It is a 5.99 UK which is a little less than $10 US.

There is also free (with AD and miss some features)...

I'm going to try other apps. If you find any useful apps, lemme know.

Right now I do not have BT or any connections to the OBDII port as of yet.

Ignore this post, it is for my SELFISH reason -- easily clickable from my droid...

    *blows dust off* this thread.

This morning, my rear left tire was leaking slowly --- and protruded on side, sounds like a replacement is on the way.

I am going to have my car checked, oil replaced, aligned, blah blah blah...

I am like Sid, in Toy Story when his rocket arrived, "it has arrived!" chrotled with joy.

Last night when Deb (my wife) and I went to Baltimore MD from Elkton, MD (123.7 miles) I refilled the tank and set fill up point on my SGII. I went on I95 highway, ignoring my hypermiling skills. I tried very had NOT to press the shift clutch for Glide, Tried to accelerate as hard as I once was (before becoming a hypermiler), NOT to turn engine off while approach stoplight (Caught myself turning off, quickly had to bump start engine!), had to coast DOWN the hill instead of getting out of shift, had to shift late with higher rpm (groan) staying within fist stage of VTEC-E to prevent SGII incorrect reading, accelerating while passing a slower car (yeah, I'm clueless driver for now) and so on....

When I arrived back to exact same gas station for a refill, I felt sooooo BETRAYED!

Quickly after I left gas station, I turned the engine off, rolling out of gas station, hypermiling....
