A Rose-Hulman sophomore gets a coveted internship with Tesla Motors! Wow! It has to be a dream position for him. --Ed.

In this economy, applicants for college internships need to stand out more than ever. Chad Conway’s bright yellow 1980 ComutaCar certainly stands out, and the fact he restored it himself impressed the folks at Tesla Motors.

We told you about Chad Conway and his ComutaCar in September when he was participating in the EcoCAR challenge at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where Conway is a sophomore. Imagine our surprise when the Boston Globe reported that Conway landed a coveted internship at Tesla’s HQ in Silicon Valley. It’s a dream come true for the 20-year-old.

“I had wanted to work for Tesla since my junior year in high school,” he said. “After working on my ComutaCar I tried to stay current with startup electric car companies. I closely followed Tesla and knew it would be an amazing place to work.”... [RM]http://www.wired.com/autopia/2010/05/commutacar-restoration-leads-to-college-internship-at-tesla/[/RM]

    Hi Mike:

___What a great story and can you imagine the enthusiasm the 20-year old will bring to Tesla?

___I hope we hear good things about this young man far into the future as he is one of those on the front lines doing what we all need him to do… That being create a sustainable future for the rest of us.
