Car goes back in Friday for more work. Still concerned about the transmission.
At least they didn't collide, bind, and bend, as mine once did immediately after a windshield replacement.
Well Well Well
The car has been back to the body shop and two diff. Honda dealers. The CVT is still not right. Everybody swears it is. But it ain't It surges and does all sorts of wird crap. The heater duct is still not right. I've told the dumb ass's 3 times how to fix the lower duct joint. It's heating up the front tray and the rest of the cover. The engine is still noisey like a old chevy iron duke. Head lights are still not aimed right. Still a long list of crap.
I'm done with taking it back. This is just flat out stupid. So I will be doing a tranny reset like Manuel suggested to me not long ago in a private msg. And fix all the other stuff. Looks like I will need to reset the motor and tranny on there mounts. Just have to get my jack and chain fall out. Loosen every thing up raise the engine and tranny and reset. I bet it helps with the steering wheel force being bias to the left in force needed to turn the wheel. Its got better. But still not right.
Squeaks and rattles have started to rear there ugly head now. All of them one the passenger side.
Anyway It's rolling junk. Cars are never right after my wife drives them.
I'm sorry it still has so many problems, Jeff.
I yanked the engine and worthless CVT off all its mounts yesterday and reset it. The bias in the steering is back to normal.
I did this yesterday in my shop at work and used the forklift to lift the engine and tranny. Chased down a few of the rattles. The CVT is worse than ever. Honda swears it's OK. Bit it's not. Still lags bad when you put in D or R from P or N. The updates they did on the car look to be worthless. I haven't a clue how you manage charge or lack there of now.
It is now basically a rolling paper weight. Thank God I get to drive my MZ3 for the next 3 weeks.
That's so sad. I know you were never fond of it in the first place, but an HCHII in good working order really can be enjoyable to drive. It sounds like this example really is toast.
I just don't see the transmission lasting at all. The dealer swears up and down it's right and OK. But it's no where near right. I've also figured out the wife has not been setting the hand brake at all anymore. Unless she thinks I'm going to drive it. Then she sneaks out and yanks it up. She use to always set the hand brake. Not anymore. And I can not for the life of me get it through her hard head to set it. <<<<< she was doing this before the wreck.
At any rate she will be the death of the car, herself or somebody else.
I would rather have a 7th gen Accord back than the HCHII. While I never hated the HCHII. The transmission really is its weak link. The hybrid system is close behind. The little engine in it is a Swiss watch. Even at the good deal we got on it. I think honestly. A R-18 Civic is a better over all car. Even if one wussy's out and opt's for the 5AT. To date I have not figured out how to make the HCHII's electric power steering as good as the Si's. (Si has electric ps and it's light years better than HCHII) It's almost like driving a Town Car with Micky Mouse ears on the horn/ballon pad. I have never gotten use to the climate control system in it. It really is a pain unless you pretty much let it go full auto. It's just strange for a Civic,,, to me.
I like my coworkers new 2010 EX Sedan 5AT with leather more than the HCHII. Hell I liked my 06 EX Sedan more than the HCHII. I still wish it had been a better car reliability wise. The MZ3 has been bullet proof. I don't even know if I'm going to get a CRZ now. I know for a fact there isn't a Honda dealer you can trust to work on one right in this area. Honda cars may well go the way there motocycles did with me. Down the road..... without me.
Civic threw a IMA light today........
What's the OBDII code?
I have to agree with you that a conventional Civic would be better in your situation.
I have no idea and the SGII is toast. I need to send it back in for replacement.
Well, I was going to see if Oral Roberts a few miles up the road could ask for a miracle but it's too late to ask him.
You're blow by blow account is a horror story.
If it was may car, I might be seeking treatment and don't know if I'm kidding.
The HCHII will go in wensday morning for treatment. It will have to be driven in from Okmulgee to Tulsa. Glad I'm not driving it. I might have to pull over and riddle it with 7.62x25mm and leave it for the recycling man.
All ORU is good for is releiving money from peoples wallets......
The wife begged off on taking her screwed up car to the dealer today. Soooooo I had to drive the turd in. I told the dealer to go ahead and change the oil in it while they had it. A M1 0-20 oil change was $90 friggen dollars. I about fell out! A reg. oil change is $45.
The car died twice on me on the way in this morning. Would have assist and charge then nothing. It would also go into auto stop then refire its self then shut right off. ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF, like flipping a light switch. Then it would act like it was alright then start missing. Another intresting trait was it will buck like mad bull at about 35 mph. Like the CVT is engaging then disengaging.
It is one screwed up beast!
Can you go to the manager, get someone else to fix it, something?
Yes, this is a bad train wreck story.
Back from the dealer with a over priced oil change and a reflash. What a mess.
There is now a story that makes all of this better. And I think the car is now repaired!
I was told by the service asst. at the dealer that all they did was flash the IMA system and change the oil. I then get a call from the service manager once back at the office. He asked how the car did? I told him fine. Seems like it's back to it's old self possible. He said " With all the new parts it should be like new." New parts??? I was not told of any new parts. I was told the computer system was down at the dealer and I would get a statement in the mail.
He then rattled off the following: We replaced the Complete Battery Pack, IMA Control Unit, IMA Main Switch, IMA PDU, Cooling Fan and the transmission ground. I was speachless. He informed me it was all warranty work. No charge other than the oil change. And if it was up to him the oil change would have been free. I asked if I could stop by after work and look over the old parts. He insisted and was glad to hear that I wanted to see them. He told me they had told the body shop about the needed work when the car was there last. I was never told. He then finds that the file for the work done at the body shops request is still open. Thus the Honda SA that was on the job did not tell the body shop best we can figure out. And that SA was off today. The owner of the body shop was beside himself and offered to pay for the oil change. I refused his good faith offer. I don't think he knew. He is a very nice guy.
So over all it seems like the car is back to normal. Honda said the car was showing signs of a problem pre wreck. Don't ask me,, I haven't a clue. I was told by the body shop and dealer if there are any signs of a issue concerning the car. Call one or the other and a flat bed will be dispatched and the car gone through again.
It would seem this whole mess is a communication issue between the dealer SA and the body shops SA. I'm glad such drastic and forth right action was taken just in time. I was going to trade the HCHII off this evening on a Mazda6 and move on.
OOOOO also the dealer did a quick alignment to double check the body shops work of which the body shop is paying for. I was assured its factory straight. Everything looked good and as far as they can see the work was done to spec.
Again once all the computers are back up and running right I will be mailed a complete statement and report concerning the car.
So we will see what happens.
So was the car acting up after you got it back from the dealer? Or did you head back there and they installed the new stuff later?
I'm confused on the timeline.
Wreck! Car goes to body shop. Car then sent to dealer to have all the hybrid stuff unhooked and isolated before body work starts.. Engine and transmission ripped out and all body work done. Car goes back to dealer to have all hybrid stuff hooked back up and brought back to life. Transmission fluid changed A/C brought back to life. Car is done, we pick it up. We find a few interior cosmetic issues with complaints the car is not acting right. No idiot lights. But it is not right. Lots of engine noise and transmission is not right. Body shop fixs our concerns and the car goes back to the dealer. Some adjustments are made and it seems some what better. Still alot of engine noise and then it starts getting worse. I lift the engine and transmision and reset them on the mounts. Noise is gone and steering bias is pretty much back to normal. But the car drives like crap. I'm ready to trade it off and move on after the holidays. Then yesterday the IMA light comes on. We get it back to the dealer today and massive work is done on the IMA system. Car seems like new. It even stops better. Dealer tells body shop about the need for the pending warranty work. Not wreck related. Body shop does not tell us. IMA light gets us to get it back to the dealer thats been working with the car from the start. All seems good now. HCHII is still in the driveway and Mazda6 is still at it's dealer.
All the dealer stuff was between the dealer and body shop prior to today When I jumped in with both feet ready to yank knots in necks.
Now that is more like it, Jeff!!
