Hello to all MiHG members and friends,

Well it’s been too long since we’ve gotten together (MiHG May Meet) but it’s not like we haven’t been busy. Summer is a time for vacations, weddings, festivals and Brewer games and just relaxing. Our MiHG Planning Team has been doing many of these things themselves and how they and other MiHG members have been “workn’it” by promoting and sharing our MiHG philosophy and knowledge with others during summer as well.

Since our last MiHG Meet, we have completed our participation in the first Wisconsin Fleet Training with the City of Milwaukee and Veolia Water, we have joined our sister groups, the Madison Hybrid Group and the Chicago Prius Group, at the Annual Hybrid Gathering at Miller Park, helped plan and promote the Green Drive Expo and lastly held our very first MiHG Pump Your Ride To $avings event. Many of our Planning Team have also presented and spoke at various events as well. We’ll share the results of each of these activities during our MiHG News segment of this Meet.

We’ll have two great main segments at this August Meet and both are very appropriate as the public considers replacement vehicles with the C.A.R.S. program also known as the “Cash for Clunkers” program.

    - First up will be a presentation offered by Wayne Gerdes and Debbie Anders. This segment called, “City vs Highway Shootout; Which Vehicle is Best” with Wayne and Debbie analyzing and comparing, then rating, which is the best vehicle (hybrid and non-hybrid) if most of your driving is in the city or the highway.

    - The second segment will be, “Initial Thoughts on the 2010 Prius IV” with Wayne Mitchell talking about and displaying his new 2010 Prius with Solar Roof. The Prius IV is one of the most sought after vehicles by those owners trading up under the C.A.R.S. program. Since Wayne is one of the most knowledgeable Prius experts in the country, this will be a great follow-up to the expert advice from Wayne and Debbie.

So if you or someone you know is considering trading up, this will be the Meet to have your questions answered by some of the best experts in America and the most fuel efficient drivers in the World.

For our first timers, here’s the way things generally work at a meet. We begin to gather in the Library parking lot about 9:15am to schmooze and show off our vehicles. If the weather is good, we’ll begin check-in and our VTP’s (Vehicle Tire Pressures) at that time. At 10:00am we’ll begin to setup our room and by 10:20 we should be set to begin our introduction round robin. We’ll have a short session and then take a short break for snacks and item sales. We’ll then have our main session and offer some updates, reviews, news, short subjects and door prizes and then break for lunch about 12:00 pm. After our potluck lunch, we’ll begin our Drive $mart sessions about 12:30 pm and begin cleanup. Beverages and utensils will be supplied but we encourage all attending to bring some food to share. (Main dishes are greatly appreciated). Be prepared to be gracious, with the understanding that the agenda usually does not follow the timeline.

I talked to my brother last night and after much persuasion he refuses to get up that early. He says he has trouble getting to sleep before 3 am and I was wanting to leave around 5 or 6. I even offered to let him crash here and I throw him in the car.

On your way back if you come near Elkhart and it's early enough for you, you should stop by.

It was great meeting you Chris and I hope you enjoyed yourself at our Meet. We always appreciate it when we get our members and friends from out of state. It certainly shows your interest, passion and commitment to fuel efficiency as well as your community and our country to travel to Oak Creek for our Meet..

As I mentioned to you, when your planning on attending a Meet (next one on Sat. Oct 17) you may be able to car pool with our other members in Indiana and Illinois. Just post your intent on CMPG and they'll chime in.

Stay in touch and stay connected because we're doing some innovative things in the MiHG.

Thanks Bradlee, I did in fact enjoy myself. Proved by the fact that myself and both Waynes where the last to leave. I will mark my calender for then. I will know better the closer it gets.

Well you'll be glad to know that my brother-in-law has shown an interest in coming up with me if I attend the next one. He drives a HCH. As of now he is one of those "just drive it" types. Every time I ask how the Civic is doing his reply is "slow." They have been getting mid-40's. Maybe, we can show them a few things to increase his mileage and show him that he isn't losing any time.

Hey Bradlee, assuming the usual every-other-month schedule, will the next meet be on October 24th? If I'm not in the process of moving then or working again, I want to make it up there again.

It would be great to see you again Larry and you're pretty close on the date of our next Meet.

It'll actually be on Saturday, October 17 in Oak Creek.

I hope you'll be able to make it.
