Different max PSI tires

    I have 2 different brands of tire on my car. They are all the same size but have different max PSI ratings. The front pair have a max of 44 and the rear set max is 35. I had them inflated to max with Nitrogen today, 44PSI front and 35 PSI back. I was wondering how this might effect safety and MPG of my car.

    It's a 1993 Plymouth Voyager with a 2.5l 4cyl. 95% of my driving is under 35mph, short trips where the engine never really warms up. I am guessing under these conditions I'm not going to see any difference in MPG.

    I was thinking of trying a hot air intake but I'm unclear as to how that works. I always heard that your car performs better with cooler air from outside the hood.

    ___I would place your tires front to rear a lot closer than 10 as that is a bit much. The one good thing the door placard is for is to see if there is an offset. If there is a 2# higher pressure recommended for the fronts, why not consider 44 for the fronts and 42 for the rears. That is just my own advice as to where you can start from.

    ___for N2, I hope you didn’t pay for it because it is not doing anything for you. It can even hurt your FE as it does not expand (pressurize) at the same rate as air will and thus costs you a few ounces of fuel once warmed up.

    ___Save the WAI (Warm Air Intake) for later once you have the basics down and it becomes cold again later this fall. Installing one now would be/could be detrimental to both your performance and FE!

    Yeah I paid $20 for the Nitrogen. I needed two new tires so I just had them all rebalanced and maxed with N2. I'll take a look at the door panel and see what it says. Thanks
