House OK expected for climate panel.
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House is expected to approve the formation of a special committee on climate change today -- a move some suggested was an effort to sidestep John Dingell, the powerful chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee and an ally to the auto industry. Dingell, D-Dearborn, and other powerful committee chairmen struck a deal last month and agreed to the formation of the committee -- called the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Climate Change. The formation requires a vote of the full House.
