Streamline Design ? Honoring the Work of a Futurist
Nov. 5th marks the birthday of a man who quite literally changed the look of the 20th century and whose designs live on well into the 21st. Raymond Loewy is known as "The Father of Streamlining". And possibly his most iconic creation is the Coca-Cola Bottle. Raymond Loewy designs are part of American life ? from the familiar Coca-Cola bottle to the paint scheme on Air Force One and the interior of the Concorde. He designed the first streamlined railroad train and post-war Studebakers, the first cars in which fenders were an integral part of the body.
