Rail Freight Volume down again this past week

Norfolk Southern moves freight across the entire and Midwest and East Coast. According to the Association of American Railroads (AAR), Freight traffic on U.S. railroads was down slightly last week in comparison with last year, primarily because of a sharp drop in coal loadings. For the week ending Feb. 20, 2010, U.S. railroads originated 273,999 carloads, down 1.6 percent compared with the same week in 2009, and down 15.3 percent from 2008.
